Baths of Caracalla

Built between 212 and 216 A.D. by the Emperor Caracalla, and originally supplied with water by the Aqua Marcia, these public Thermae served as a meeting place for Roman citizens from all walks of life. It is the only well-preserved ancient bathing complex in Rome and remained in use until the 19th century.
